The incredible recovery of Sandhill Cranes in North America is an inspiring story of resilience and adaptation by these majestic birds. Every year, nature lovers and birders flock to see Sandhill Cranes at their migration stopover locations, breeding areas and wintering grounds. Not everyone can travel to major stopover locations like Kearney, Nebraska, to see the spectacle of more than 10,000 birds gathering as they migrate. But, depending on the time of year, there are many places in North America where we can see Sandhill Cranes in person.
The Sandhill Crane Finder uses data from Cornell's eBird citizen science program to help you find where Sandhill Cranes are right now and where you might find them in the future. Using eBird's sightings of Sandhill Cranes in designated Important Bird Areas, you can find out the best months for seeing birds at these sites.
